Rather than whine as usual, I thought I'd share with you a couple of exciting 'grindcore' bands I was introduced to by my chum Stephen Clover (apologies if you've heard this before). They are Caninus and Hatebeak, grindcore bands fronted by a couple of pit bulls, and a parrot, respectively. Check out the links if you don't believe me - both sites have samples for you to enjoy/endure.
Okay, so it's not exactly breaking new ground (when was 'dogs singing Jingle Bells' released?), but it's very well executed. The animals are obviously sampled and overdubbed, and furthermore, the parrot is down-tuned to make his squawks very sinister indeed. But even so, it seems like a logical progression for Death Metal singers. If you don't want to sound human... why not use non-humans? And it shows that some (perhaps most?) grindcore types aren't taking it that seriously.
