Watched Big Trouble in Little China again with Sally today, who found it monumentally preposterous, and criticised the Chinese actors' poor Cantonese: "they talk with American accents".
We then put on Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain and though I don't understand enough of the native dialogue to know if it's rubbish, the subtitles at least didn't excessive character posing in place of actual conversation, which is a severe flaw in BTLC (analyse what they're saying, and you'll get the feeling they're not really talking to each other).
What I did notice was at one point in the film where Kurt Russell exclaims "Sonofabitch must pay!". I hear that a lot - not sure if it's something that's entered the wider lexicon, or Blair or Dave Ritchie uses it often. I don't think it's Katherine Hurst.
Can anyone enlighten me?
