Last week finished watching Love Guaranteed, another HK Soap Opera. It examines the challenges, conflicts and passions of a Hong Kong insurance company. True! It may seem a little weird, but people normally need insurance payouts at times of high stress, so the drama flows naturally. And at the end of each episode one of the actors provides tips for people buying insurance.
Love Guaranteed is a solid effort, though not as good as CIB Files, which I've reviewed elsewhere.
Also had a peek at Forensic Heroes! (exclamation mark added by me, because it seems so natural to do so), a sort of CSI: Kowloon. Full of appalling alternating fast and slow-motion edits, zooms and cherry picker camera work (there's probably proper industry terms for all this, but hopefully you'll get the idea), this serial is sadly undermined by a hackneyed plot and general lack of imagination. So not all is fantastic in HK soaps in 2006, but I'm still keen to see more.
