Recently found out that Martin Scorsese is making a remake of the Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs. Called The Departed, it has Leonardo DiCaprio playing the Tony Leung's undercover cop role, and Matt Damon in Andy Lau's triad mole cop role. I don't really have the fondness for DiCaprio and Damon that I do for Leung and Lau, but I guess the former are 'bankable Hollywood actors'. Equally, Martin Sheen is par for the course as Anthony Wong's superintendant cop. Excitingly though, Eric Tsang's small-but-brutal triad boss is going to be reinterpreted by... Jack Nicholson!!
I doubt I'll see this in the cinema but the Scorsese/Nicholson thing is certainly intriguing. And after all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. You wouldn't want to go too far, though, and have DiCaprio and Damon singing a song over the credits...
