Music nonstop

Since the album "launch" I've been pondering what to do next. I'd quite like to do some drone music because the idea of getting a complete piece out of the harmonic and tonal complexities of a single sound is appealing. I'm not sure I have the discipline to do it, but we'll see.

Spurred on by my good buddy Adrien's recent mp3 offerings, I'd also like to do some more straight up melodic electronica, stuff I haven't really done since I ditched the hardware sampler and started using Audiomulch. I can't say I have even half of Adrien's talent for melody, harmony and rhythm, but this sort of thing appeals to me. To this end I've bought myself a midi keyboard in order to noodle with riffs.

So basically, I've gone all bipolar really wanting to do more experimental stuff, and decent, old-fashioned meloditronica (I wonder who's used that word before me?). I fear I'll end up doing the ethnic downbeat breaks stuff of International Travel. Old dog, old tricks!

In between releasing International Travel and now, I've completed one track. It's called Virginia Lake and is pseudo dub with lots of duck noises recorded in Wanganui. You can check it out on Amplifier.

It's been suggested I set myself up on MySpace to get more exposure. I've tried more than once to create an account, but I find MySpace so horrible that I just can't bring myself to do it! Maybe one day I'll succumb.
