Robert Anton Wilson may be dying

Or maybe he isn't.

Now go read one of his books.

If you live in Wellington, go to Pinnacle Books in Willis Street Village and buy something by him - I'd particularly recommend The Cosmic Trigger vol. 1 out of his non-fiction and Illuminatus! out of his fiction, both of which they have (or at least they had them yesterday...)

His official site is here.

Also see Billy's site which is bound to have some good RAW-related stuff on it.

Right - so that will be my book purchase for this pay period! Cosmic Trigger Vol 1 it will be.

Enjoyed Illuminatus so much (must do a re-read at some point too) that I'm willing to take a little gamble on some of his other stuff.

That linkage is pretty damn humorous too :-)

Scott: I hope you like it. It's one of RAW's most personal books, in that it's about his personal spiritual journey. There's plenty of his distinctive humour and cynicism in it too.

It's also the book that made Philip K. Dick curious to meet him. I haven't read CT 2 & 3 yet.

Or you could borrow the Illuminatus! from the library and go easier on the planet with the consumerism thing.

Although the library doesn't appear to have Cosmic Trigger.

I've got a copy of Illuminatus already (got it after borrowing Pearces copy) - plus I'd like to actually own Cosmic Trigger (have been refered it by a couple of people now).

Cosmic Trigger 1 is pretty special :)

Prometheus Rising and Quantum Psychology are the other two of his non-fiction that I would particularly recommend.

Yeah, as much as I'm in favour of planet-easy non-consumerism, there just aren't enough copies of Illuminatus and Cosmic Trigger being passed around.

Besides which, Bob is still alive and every copy of one of his books that's sold counts towards his medical bills which, given post-polio syndrome, were pretty huge even before his recent illness escalation. He's not exactly wealthy, and most of the money he does have comes from people buying Illuminatus.

Libraries are great, but writers got to eat too.
