Things what I did this year man

This may be the last chance I have to post on my blog until the New Year, so I'm gonna try and recount some of my achievements for the year.

First and foremost, I've maintained steady contact with my new-found sister Marama and have started getting to know her. I am one of the world's worst correspondants, yet somehow I have managed to consistently keep this up. It's been really rewarding so far, and only promises to get better.

I've somehow aquired a sense of responsibility. I'm doing well in my job and actually seem to care about it - I've landed in an organization I can support morally, and I've managed to improve a number of things there and can see ways to do more. Giving a shit about a job would have been unthinkable two years ago. Actually taking control of a team - especially without being asked - would have seemed ridiculous.

I've gotten someone so stoned he thought he saw Satan. It counts as an achievement in my book.

I killed a crush before it could cause any grief. This is some kind of breakthrough. I'm not likely to stop making a fool out of myself over women that I fancy, but I might have some decorum about it now.

I've done some significant writing, with specific plans for plenty more.

I've taken up yoga and started exercising regularly. I've still got a long way to go, but it's a start.

I didn't get laid once. Hang on, they wasn't much of an achievement!

I've published an article in a magazine. Maybe you read it. They got my name wrong, but at least the content was good.

The year's not over yet and there's still things to be done. At the end of this week I'm off to Auckland to meet my 79-year-old dad face to face for the first time. While I'm there, Marama and I will plan our impending trip to Africa.

Next year is a mystery. This year has been pretty fulfilling. Despite some frustrations and a bunch of pretty full-on moments, it's been my best in about a decade.

Merry Xmas everyone. Goddess bless, fnord.

And a happy New Year!

Dude - I must say that this is the year that you have seemed to be happiest with things! I really enjoyed flatting with you (should have done it earlier really!) and some of the conversations we've had have been stunning!!

Have a brilliant Xmas and New Year - and we must keep in contact next year (ie come visiting P!)

Good times, Mr Pearce.

Hope it goes well in Auckland. And Africa. Good luck in 2006. Mention the yoga more, might help with the getting laid.

See you soon. - James

Most people would have shagged the person who was so stoned they thought the saw Satan. One intro line would have been - you think that's Satan? Check out this! *reaches into pants*
still - 10 bonus points for nefarious deeds.

have a good NYE Pearce. Africa is the new black.
