If your immediate response to the title was "Eating chocolate animals, from a Nestle Animal Bar", then I'm afraid there's no hope for you.
I've just moved from the holiday-camp atmosphere of the Rongotai facility back to the frenetic pressure-cooker of the Miramar mothership. So far, it's not too bad - I still have to finish setting up my new space, but I no longer have to deal with a certain co-worker, so I'm in a fairly positive mood.
Oh, and as far as that co-worker goes, I'm drawn to another Piet Hein poem:
AN ETHICAL GROOK
I see
and I hear
and I speak no evil;
I carry
no malice
within my breast;
yet quite without
wishing
a man to the Devil
one may be
permitted
to hope for the best.

Jackie Chan is Passepartout in the new remake of Around the World In 80 Days. That's just... that's... uh... that's weirder than when I found out that Will Smith was the lead in an Asimov movie. Johnny Depp being interested in a Speed Racer live action movie, on the other hand, makes perfect sense. Yes, the Cinefex weekly update came out, and endeared itself to me by saying (regarding the upcoming movie of the Battle of Thermopylae called 300), "Zach Snyder will direct and, with Kurt Johnstad, will rewrite the screenplay by Michael Gordon and Herodutus." :)
And now, as promised, my current film schedule. The astute reader will note a couple of 15-minute dashes between the City Gallery theatre and the Embassy - luckily, I'll be moving back to the parents soon (since renting a flat to store my furniture for six months seems daft), and they have a treadmill, so I should be able to do some training before the event.
(I've already started training for watching films, watching The Station Agent, The Cooler and The Fog of War the Saturday before last. I liked them a lot - but that may be a post for another time.)

I'm pretty sure the Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry shows are just going to be rehashes of stuff on their "Directors Label" DVDs which were released last year (and, incidentally, you're welcome to borrow).
Posted by: David Ritchie at June 30, 2004 2:45 PMThis is not impossible - and it means I feel less bad about not getting to the Michel Gondry one.
Hmm. If I don't go to that, I can think about going to the Skateboarding doco, or Queen of the Gypsies; there's a 'To Be Advised' there, too.
I will have to have a think. :)
Posted by: Svend at June 30, 2004 3:15 PMIt's also not particularly pleasingly spaced, for me at least. Oh well; I'm still doing 50-hour weeks, so I don't really have enough time to mess about with the style sheets yet. Maybe later.
Posted by: Svend at June 30, 2004 6:18 PMIf 300 is based around Frank Millar's comic of the same name (rather than merely thinking it's a good title for the story) I hope it avoids his annoying cultural cock-ups, like the idea that the Spartans might mock other Greeks for having homosexual relationships...
Posted by: Rodger at June 30, 2004 7:28 PMyay! You are bloggeriffic. Who can get sick of blogging? Noone! Especially when they go away for a day and come back and there are 10 new comments, many of which about smoke in space! Hurrah!
Shall I add a link to you on mine?
Posted by: giffy at July 1, 2004 12:37 PMYou're more than welcome to link here, Giffy - I haven't had a chance to look at minor things like links to people, but it's something I might do over the weekend. Though I should really be preparing to pack, since the movers are coming the Saturday after...
The behaviour of a candle in zero-gee is one of those little facts that you very rarely have a reason to know, so I thank you for the opportunity to share it. :)
Posted by: Svend at July 1, 2004 12:49 PMthe Spike jones one is on tape - so don't expect great sound. But i have been promised that there are a few, 'unseen before' tasty treats.
however the DVDs Mr ritchie refers to are unknown to me - time for a trip to AroVideo
